Mixed Media Books on Display in Detroit

Some of my mixed media art books have been selected for an exhibition called "Paperworks" at the Detroit Creative Corridor Center in Detroit. The focus of this show is about paper. I was fortunate to be invited to participate by a chance opportunity. The books that were selected include "Textures in Black & White", "Stencils 2.0" and "Raven Variations".

Artist Statement for the Show
My art is an exploration of texture and pattern using repetitive images created with stencils, carved stamps and various found materials. The work is free form and intuitive at the initial stages of creation. Once a visual direction is discovered and refined, the work evolves as each new element is added, resulting in a tactile-rich surface. The book form is used to draw the viewer into a personal connection with the art through the physical action of turning pages and experiencing the surface texture of each page.

The exhibition opens on Wednesday, July 25 from 5:30 - 8:30 PM. DC3 is located at 485 W. Milwaukee Ave., Detroit, MI in the A. Alfred Taubman Center for Design Education, at the College for Creative Studies.
